Founded in 1926, SHOBI College of Music is one of the premier institutions for the study of music and entertainment in Japan. For 83 years, we have developed our curriculums and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. We can offer students a variety of courses that include music, performing arts, sound and visual production, Internet music, and music business. Since SHOBI is located in Bunkyo ward, the center of Tokyo, you have opportunities to study and experience every area of entertainment field.

 

 

Announcement of the change of the school name

Our school name will be changed from "Tokyo Music & Media Arts Shobi to "SHOBI College of Music" on April 1, 2010.
We aim at the further improvement as a higher institution of music and entertainment.

THE SCHOOL

• Shobi is located in central downtown Tokyo. It is close to the famous Tokyo Dome and Bunkyo Ward's Civic Hall, has easy access to Tokyo hot spots such as Shinjuku, Shibuya, Tokyo, Akihabara, Ikebukuro, and Aoyama. Shobi is accessible from four subway lines and one JR station.
• Shobi is a well-established educational institution with an eighty-three- year history.
• Shobi is an accredited specialized training college. Upon graduation, students of the two-year course are conferred a title of diploma of postsecondary course. Students who graduated from the four-year Comprehensive Music Department will receive a title of advanced diploma of post secondary course
• Shobi's classrooms and studios are filled with the latest state-of-the-art professional equipment. Film studios, non-linear editing classrooms, various recording studios, pre-production studios and sound design studios are all available for students' use.
• Shobi's Buca performance studio accommodates up to 300 people and is used for a variety of student performances. The school's concert hall, Vario Hall also provides students with a place to practice and perform. Dance and musical department students have a number of dance studios available to them, and full-sized professional recording studios as well as practice rooms are open to students.
• For students studying to become professional musicians, Shobi provides them with top-quality instruments to practice on. The concert hall and Buca have Steinway and Bensendolfer grand pianos for concert recital practice and performance, and all practice rooms are equipped with Yamaha pianos.

SHOBI NET-TV

Shobi Net-TV is organized, managed, and produced by Shobi students. Many of them are Internet Music majors, and others are Audio Visual and Music Business majors. Our professional staff will assist you in experiencing the most advanced music and webcast business. For music and performing arts majors, the Net-TV can be a good place where they can make a net debut easily. From here, students can broadcast their own compositions, voice ensembles, or their professional profiles .to the rest of the world through the internet.
