The vocal course provides an environment for every student to follow through with their goals to the end while finding their own 'voice'. With four years of interacting extensively and in-depth with music, assistance is provided to students allowing to realize their full potential. Through the variety of lessons and other opportunities, students can discover their talents as an artist, trainer, director, arranger, composer or melody writer. Expand your horizons as a vocalist with four years of experiences and increase your confidence.
At SHOBI, we are proud to be able to provide various opportunities for students to experience rehearsals and production seminars to enable them to develop a career as a composer. In order to be able to work with a range of genres, students will learn a wide range of music styles including pop, folk and contemporary classical music. Students will also learn to utilize technology and the other skills required to create music. It is a unique course within the world of music where students are given practical lessons on computer music, also known as desktop music or DTM in Japan, desktop audio workshop (DAW) technical training, as well as orchestra composition.
Pursue the 'universality and ingenuity of music' through the piano and increase one's performance ability. Furthermore, students will learn how to create and produce by applying the skills acquired. In order to have a career in music, confidence is required. Through an accumulation of experience with quarterly practical skill examinations, concert hall exams and public lectures, develop your performance repertoire. Using our curriculum and education system that focuses on turning music experience into work confidence, we lead our students down the road to becoming a performer.
An all-genre, all-style approach to expand one's performance ability will become an indispensable experience when it comes to dealing with various situations at work. This course is not only about the acquisition of grades, but also about gaining experience with performances at a variety of school events. Students will also have the opportunity to plan their own concert at a studio and/or concert hall which will include self-producing, self-directing, self-management and anything else required for the performance. Experience all there is required to create a live event and aim for a career playing the electronic organ.
Build up your confidence and abilities as a professional musician through the various stages and audition experiences. You will acquire the components required to turn music into a livelihood, such as technique, originality, planning ability, expression, coordination, etc., through practical lessons, ensemble lessons (from combinations to big bands), recordings, and live performances. You will be able to steadily increase your technical ability with a strong foundation acquired in your first year. It is a course designed to cultivate the type of musician required in the Jazz and Popular field.
Through various experiences at SHOBI for such as solo, chamber music, brass band, orchestras, big bands, pop ensembles, etc., continuously strengthen your abilities and improve your performance skills from your first year. With both a curriculum supported by a long tradition and practical lessons taught by musicians who represent Japan, SHOBI has put out a number of talented musicians in the past years. With this curriculum, students will be able to acquire technical and direction skills through practical lessons comprising of all styles and genres of music allowing them to connect their performance experiences to a future career.
FOCUS1
Students who have graduated from a 4-year course at a professional training college are eligible to receive an Advanced Diploma. SHOBI's Comprehensive Music Department is the only music professional training college department that offers this course. After spending 4 years acquiring a high level of professional skills, students are eligible for entrance to a graduate school in Japan. Potential careers after graduation also include research and education fields and studying abroad.

At the Comprehensive Music Department, there is a collaborative system to aid students in acquiring a teaching credential with Tokyo Future University School of Child Psychology Child Psychology Department (correspondence course). Students can also aim to acquire qualifications to become a certified psychologist, recreation instructor or social welfare officer etc. It is a system to allow you to increase the possibilities to turn music into your livelihood as a music specialist.

Unique to the Comprehensive Music Department, students are able to choose a second major, referred to as 'Major B', during their second and third year of studies. Not only will you become a specialist in your first major during the 4 years in the department, 'Major B' also provides you with a chance to expand your horizons.

A whole new system presents itself at your 3rd and 4th Year, another characteristic of the Comprehensive Music Department. From hands-on lessons to polish your professional abilities and correspondence, to elective courses aimed at national examinations such as 'Legal Studies regarding Music Business', the student will be able to acquire skills and knowledge that will be required on-site. University, junior college and professional training college graduates may also utilize the 3rd Year Transfer System, providing a chance to learn with this enriching curriculum.
Comprehensive Music Department Head
It is crucial for someone wishing to work in the music industry to improve their skills in performance (expression)/composition/arrangement. However, you will also have to be able to present yourself to the world, letting the world know of your existence. In the 4-years at the Comprehensive Music Department, the student will be able to acquire the ability to self-produce with a curriculum that progresses with each year. Enter society with confidence after acquiring both a high performance/composing ability and the knowledge required in the industry.
