SOUND, VISUAL & Lighting Production

In this department, we train students in four different fields, 'Concert PA', 'Recording', 'Visual Production' and 'Stage Lighting', to become specialists in their fields. At SHOBI within the 11 departments, students of different departments gather and learn new skills through collaborations. The Sound, Visual & Lighting Production Department enables its students to experience working together with others. Skills are not just taught. Each student is encouraged to be creative through classes in planning, creation and production. Using the skills and creativity learned in each major, please continue to challenge yourself and find employment in Japan.

MAJORS

Concert PA Major

Learn how to operate the concert equipment used by audio engineers. It is also possible to study concert planning and production within the offered curriculum.

Recording Major

While an audio engineer is doing recording, being able to produce intuitively is essential. CD recording, film and DVD sound mixing, digital broadcasting will also be taught.

Visual Production Major

Learn the skills required for various fields in video production including television, film, commercials, music videos (MV), internet broadcasting and etc. The ability to plan and brainstorm, along with producing and directing, is also studied.

Stage Lighting Major

A job in stage lighting is the ability to completely control the level of perfection at a concert or event. It is not only skills in lighting production but also the ability to completely develop, plan, and produce; therefore these skills will also be studied.

Almost every person aiming to work in fields related to concert sound systems, recordings, visual production and stage lighting start from being inexperienced. At SHOBI, the student can pick the major they wish to study after learning the basics of all 4 of these fields. This ensures that the students are able to learn about and work in the fields that they have visualized themselves in.

Aiming to be an All-Rounder who has worked with All Genres.

Students are able to experience a variety of stages from external live event productions to collaborations with the Siena Wind Orchestra, a leading orchestra in Japan, and other collaborations with other departments. This is made possible as SHOBI is a music professional training college.

Every year, a number of job offers come from companies where graduates of the Sound, Visual & Lighting Department have been employed at. Furthermore, these companies are also invited for joint corporate briefings for the students and there are also corporate training opportunities.
