Building on SHOBI's over 90 years of history as a music institution, the department uses the best possible curriculum to teach all genres of music with classical music as the foundation. Students can receive guidance from active, top-tier musicians in their fields, as well as from music producers and others. Students will be taught the skills and knowledge of professionals, training to become musicians capable of changing the music scene.

Curriculum Encompassing Tradition and Achievements

In the Wind, String & Percussion Major, students will simultaneously receive basic training lessons to build a solid foundation and individual lessons to increase one's expression. The Wind Instrument & Marching Band major aims to nurture leaders and talent suitable for music business by allowing the student to not only build a strong foundation in music but also acquire music business knowledge.

Hands-on learning Experience of Professional's Techniques

With top players who are currently active in the industry as their instructors, students will be able to improve their own ability while studying a professional's techniques. A collaboration concert with the SIENA Wind Orchestra, the leading professional orchestra in Japan, is also held.

Support System to your future path

Students may transfer from the two-year course to the four-year Comprehensive Music Department, an extension of 2 years in a conservatoire diploma course, aiming towards competitions and orchestra member auditions. For students aiming to become a middle/high school music teacher, it is also possible to transfer into Shobi University.
